Itinerary
Depart in the morning from Marrakech, Agadir, and Ouarzazate, heading towards the village of Mhamid, the doorstep to the desert. Enjoy private transportation by Osez Le Désert Du Maroc. A possible stop in an Atlas village allows for a visit to Ait Beh Haddou near Ouarzazate, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, settle in for the night at the fixed bivouac, nestled at the foot of the first dunes. A hammam experience is available at the bivouac.
Embark on a journey on foot, accompanied by the camel caravan. After loading, depart from the fixed bivouac with the nomadic team and camels to reach the erg Sidi Naji. A mausoleum stands facing the erg, a pilgrimage site for nomadic families. Spend the night surrounded by the dunes of the erg.
Wake up with the sun for a day that leads to the majestic howling dunes, also known as Erg Zahar. Leave the dunes of the erg Sidi Naji to traverse a wide arid plateau, often witnessing mirages. The less-frequented Erg Zahar is a desert of the imagination, lunar and completely arid, making it one of our favorite ergs.
Continue the trek to reach Ait Ounir and "Bora Bora," situated near the wells of the Oued Drâa. This could be an opportunity to witness a herd of camels coming to drink or encounter a nomad shepherd. Spend the night under the desert stars.
Depending on the progress of the camel caravan in the previous days, reach the fixed bivouac in the mid-morning after a few hours of walking. Reunite with the vehicle for a return journey to Ouarzazate, Marrakech, and Agadir in the late evening.
*Our recommendation for a return to Marrakech or Agadir: Opt for an additional night at the fixed bivouac on Day 5 to enjoy the village of Mhamid, and return on Day 6 (scheduled in the late afternoon). Alternatively, choose an additional night halfway to Ouarzazate to explore, with a return to Marrakech / Agadir on Day 6 (late morning or late afternoon, as preferred).
