Itinerary

Morning departure from Marrakech (Agadir or Ouarzazate of your choice) to reach the village of Mhamid, at the gates of the desert (transport by private vehicle Osez Le Desert Du Maroc). Possible stop in an Atlas village, visit to Ait Beh Haddou near Ouarzazate (a UNESCO-listed Ksar). In the evening, night in our comfortable fixed camp at the foot of the dunes.

Start the trek on foot from M'hamid. Traverse the magnificent palm grove of M'hamid following the bed of the Oued Drâa. The desert plains of the Sahara unfold before us. Tea and lunch at Race Nkhal. After a short rest, resume the trek to establish the bivouac at the foot of the Sidi Naji sand dunes and admire the sunset. The sanctuary of Sidi Naji is a place filled with history and local customs.

Rise with the sun, loading the camel caravan. Journey through the Sahara's sand dunes. Tea and lunch in the shade of a Tamaris at Erg Ez-Zahar. After some rest, resume the trek to set up the bivouac and dine at the majestic roaring dunes. This is one of our favorite sites for the beauty of its dunes.

Early morning continuation to reach Lhdibate through the Moroccan desert. A necessary tea and lunch break at Etonr. Departure to set up the bivouac at Erg Bo Rabara. Encounters are varied in the desert; perhaps this day will allow us to meet a nomadic shepherd or a camel seeking water near the Erg well.

Morning, pack up the bivouac, load the camels, and resume the march towards Lbour and the fixed camp. We reach M'hamid along the Oued Drâa and its palm grove. Return to Ouarzazate, Marrakech*, Agadir* in the late evening.

Our recommendation for a return to Marrakech or Agadir: Opt for an additional night at the fixed camp on Day 5 (take the time to enjoy a hammam, discover the peaceful atmosphere of the village of Mhamid, visit the Kasbah and its palm grove, have tea with locals, get a henna tattoo) and return to Marrakech on Day 6 (return to Marrakech / Agadir scheduled during the day). [and / or] Opt for an additional night halfway (towards Ouarzazate) to make visits along the way and balance travel times (return to Marrakech / Agadir scheduled on Day 6 in the late morning or late afternoon, as desired).
